Windermere Lake

Description:

Mini-Epic ride, not too hard, but take food and drink, because its long; On-road (most), Off-road (some)

Directions:

Starting at Windermere Station, follow the A591 to Ambleside, once you come into Ambleside where the first set of traffic lights are go LEFT, and follow that road for a bit and then where it comes straight go LEFT to the bridge, go over the bridge (to the LEFT) and keep following that road until you get to a sign which says "Hawkshead", follow that road for 1 1/4 miles until you get to a road which goes LEFT, now follow that road for 3/4 mile, until you get to Wray castle Church (marked by a big stone entrance), just after that (i.e. where there are some big stones)

(Off-road Start) take that route down to the lake for 3 1/2 miles, which takes you to a road (Off-road End), with FERRY to the LEFT, take the RIGHT. Follow that road until you get to a hill, go up the hill and take the first LEFT, then the next LEFT and then the next LEFT at "High Cunsay", now that road goes on for about 2 miles, then the next LEFT for 2 miles and then go the next LEFT and then LEFT again until you get to the bridge at Newby Bridge.

Go over the bridge and then go LEFT to the round-about and then take the next LEFT there heading to Windermere now follow that road (A592) for about 8 miles, until you get to the bottom of Bowness and then follow the main road all of the way up to Windermere and then you should be able to find the station from there.
